Frequently Asked Questions - Los Angeles Voice Center

  • Patients with hoarseness lasting two weeks should seek care with a laryngologist to assess the reason for voice loss. Singers and vocal professionals with significant or sudden hoarseness may need urgent evaluation.

  • Most vocal professionals have an annual wellness visit. Patients with ongoing voice conditions may require more frequent sessions.

  • We will take a medical and vocal history, followed by a physical exam, as well as making a recording of your vocal folds with video stroboscopy. This may be done trans-oral or trans-nasal depending on your unique needs. Therapy is initiated promptly when indicated.

  • A laryngologist has completed ENT surgical training (five years after medical school) and then pursued sub-specialty training during a fellowship in professional voice, airway, and swallowing disorders. All ENT doctors are familiar with throat problems while the laryngologist has special expertise specifically in vocal professionals and complex throat conditions.

  • A voice therapist is a type of speech language pathologist (SLP) who has undertaken focused education specific to helping vocal professionals rehabilitate the injured voice. A voice therapist is distinguished from other SLP experts who may have expertise in children with articulation issues and/or adults with cognitive/language deficits.

  • There is a $75 fee for no-show or cancellations without 48 hours notice. Thank you for your assistance as we aim to preserve access for all our patients.

  • We accept Medicare and most PPO insurance. Some HMO plans are accepted. We do NOT verify this for you; please contact your insurance company if you wish to verify we are “in network” before your visit. You may ask them to check the Tax ID for ENT Group of Los Angeles 61-1751378.

  • An initial new patient consultation with Dr. Feinstein is $350.

    Fees for office procedures and surgery vary widely depending on the particular insurance plan; you will receive an estimate in advance.

    An initial therapy session with Paige Plotkin is $275.

    The follow up session fee with Paige Plotkin is $175.
